NewsFormer Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda has lauded the steps taken by President Maithripala Sirisena to govern the country in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks in April this year. During the discussion, the former prime minister had appreciated President Sirisena’s commitment towards fostering ties between Japan and Sri Lanka under his rule. Meanwhile, President Sirisena had expressed commitment towards strengthening ties with Japan even after his term ends in November. He had thanked the Japanese government for supporting Sri Lanka's development and for assisting it to achieve economic targets. President Sirisena took wing to Japan yesterday (Oct 21), in what would be his final state tour as President.
