IPOH: A 40-year-old former Public Works Department (JKR) employee was slapped with 14 charges of falsifying documents. Roslan Al Sidek Sulaiman pleaded guilty after being read the charges under Section 471 of the Penal Code before Sessions Court judge S. Indera Nehru. Roslan, formerly an accounts assistant with the state JKR 's mechanical branch, was then sentenced to 12 months in jail and fined RM70,000. Indera Nehru ordered for the jail sentence to start simultaneously from today (Aug 3), with one month in default for each sentence if he fails to pay the fine. MACC deputy public prosecutor Azmi Yusuf said the sentence was important to serve as a lesson not only to the accused, but also to the public.
