A local publication has reported that former IEBC commissioner Irene Masit left the country in the cover of darkness after things became unbearable to her.It has been reported that she was facing various threats to her life after the role she played in the last general election. Months ago she was fired from the helm of the electoral body, IEBC by a tribunal that investigated her conduct after she failed to resign like the other three commissioners who had been dubbed Cherera four. “They flatly rejected any idea of the lawyer accompanying her to the meeting and openly told her she would be lucky to live for 24 hours if she rejected the offer,” a source claimed. She allegedly organised for her transport through her friend who bought her an air ticket.Reliable sources stated she left her house in the cover of darkness without leaving any hint that she was living the country.
