You won’t find a single person with a bad word to say about Matt Stajan around the Scotiabank Saddledome. In fact, Stajan may have been one of those rare hockey players who was universally loved by all of his teammates. On Tuesday morning, the Calgary Flames announced that Stajan was officially retiring from being a professional hockey player after 14 seasons in the NHL – eight and a half of them with the Flames. Around the Flames locker-room, Stajan’s former teammates seemed to smile every time they were asked about him. Stajan became a fan favourite in Calgary and one of the most popular players in the Flames dressing room.
