On April 21, 2017, Kirinyaga residents will go to the ballot to nominate Jubilee candidates who will battle it out with others in the August 8 elections. The past weeks have seen increased activities in the county, as each aspirant seeks to gain more ground ahead of the nominations. One key campaign that has caught the interest of the residents is that of former Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru. Waiguru has also focused her energy on youth and women groups, Saccos, business communities, religious organisations and other groups as she spells out her agenda for the people. So far, Waiguru has visited all the wards in the four constituencies in Kirinyaga County (Mwea, Ndia, Kirinyaga Central and Gichugu, holding door-to-door meetings and addressing rallies.
