Rennes announced on Friday that Letang would be leaving the club, and according to reports Wenger is at the top of the shortlist for the job - which could also encompass the role of sporting director. Now Ligue 1 club Rennes are offering the 70-year-old that opportunity, according to French publication L'Equipe. According to ESPN, the Pinaults believe they can convince Wenger to join Rennes in a role that would effectively give him total control of the club. They eventually set a Premier League record of 49 games unbeaten, which the current Liverpool team are seven games short of equalling. Before taking over as Arsenal boss in 1996, Wenger managed French sides Nancy and Monaco, and Japanese outfit Grampus Eight.
