Forget the House. It’s the battle for the Senate that could provide the most drama on election night.

But for sheer drama and unpredictability, the contest for control of the Senate could be the place to look. The range of possibilities in the Senate is not at all the same as in the House. In the Senate, Republicans could, narrowly, lose control of the chamber or they could end up bolstering their slender two-seat majority. An NBC-Marist poll of Missouri shows Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill and state Attorney General Josh Hawley even at 47 percent each. He’s turned his challenge to Republican Sen. Ted Cruz into a competitive contest, albeit in a state that remains conservative and predominantly Republican.
