The overall land value of the Quayside site has been estimated recently at around $500 million. Waterfront Toronto is the master planner for the designated waterfront area, which covers 2,000 hectares from Coxwell Avenue to Bathurst Street. “Not that Waterfront Toronto can now fund development of affordable housing on this (Quayside) site on their own. Waterfront Toronto is responsible for just under 600 units of affordable housing, including homes in the West Don Lands as well as the East Bayfront where Quayside is located. So it’s a matter of Waterfront Toronto striking the right balance with the development community, the balance that enables the creation of affordable units, Waterfront Toronto said.
