Smoke from forest fires in northwestern Ontario made its way to the GTA on Monday, prompting a warning from Environment Canada about poor air quality and reduced visibility. Environment Canada issued air quality advisories for Toronto, Pickering, Vaughan, Hamilton, Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Milton and much of southern Ontario. High levels of air pollution due to smoke from ongoing forest fires are possible, the advisories said. Forest fires are an annual summer event in Ontario but this season has seen many more than average. “Smoke from active forest fires in northwestern Ontario has moved over southern Ontario.
