"Kartik Ram had no explanation to offer for the shirt, so we decided to get a forensic exam of the shirt. On Ram's shirt, Kadma thana OC Animesh Gupta said it was found hung from a hook among other clothes in the room adjoining the drawing room where the stabbed woman lay. Kadma police are still groping in the dark in the June 28 murder of Khemlata Devi. On Saturday itself, the police sent 18 items to the forensic lab in Ranchi, which apart from Ram's shirt and a blood-stained cloth found on the verandah, included Khemlata's nails, blood samples and vagina swab. The report of the autopsy, which reached the police on Saturday, did not confirm rape, but the police reserved some internal parts of the murder victim for further forensic analysis.
