Lt. Col. Gerald Monfort, spokesman for Joint Task Force Sulu, said the foreign terrorist, identified as Abu Black, was among the 150 Abu Sayyaf rebels who battled members of the 5th Scout Ranger Battalion at Sitio Sungkogin in Barangay Kabbon Takas. He added that two other, Abu Sayyaf rebels died in the hour-long clash, while 13 others were injured. Immediately after the Jolo cathedral attack, the military launched air strikes on the lairs of Abu Sayyaf rebels, in compliance with the order of President Rodrigo Duterte to crush the terrorist group. “We continue to monitor our shores since terror groups might gain access to Iloilo through the waters,” he said.
