Foreign doctors and nurses working in the NHS get visa extensions to stay and fight coronavirus

Thousands of foreign NHS doctors, nurses and paramedics are to have their work visas automatically extended for free so they can stay and help coronavirus sufferers, it was announced today. 'The Home Office's announcement that it will extend the visas of migrant doctors, nurses, paramedics and their families is a piecemeal show of gratitude. The sheer number of British lives these key workers save every year more than earns them the right to live theirs in this country.' Number 10 hinted that the Prime Minister is frustrated by the slow progress on testing as it urged NHS trusts to use spare tests on staff. 'We've been very clear that where there is additional capacity in the system that should be being used for NHS workers.'
