The deceased was identified as Basyl Kyrys, 60, a mechanical engineer of MV Camila sailing under Gibraltar flag. The vessel plies the Chittagong-Singapore sea route and is used for transporting containers, said police and port sources. The incident took place in the engine room of the ship around 2:30pm while the crew was working, said Nayek Kanchon Barua of Chittagong Medical College Hospital Police Outpost. Quoting officials of JBX Logistics, the local shipping agent of the vessel, Nayek Kanchon said: “While working, boiling water fell on the Ukrainian and scalded his whole body. “He was declared dead by duty doctors at CMCH when he was brought to the hospital after being rescued by coast guard officials.”
