Foreign Ministry responds to ElBaradei complaint, says passport on way to Vienna

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed abu Zeid has replied to a complaint from former vice president Mohamed ElBaradei over the delay in issuing his new passport. “The passport was issued a few days ago and is on its way to the Egyptian embassy in Vienna in a diplomatic pouch for the handover,” abu Zeid said. Thank you.”ElBaradei had previously complained that the Foreign Ministry did not renew his passport, although he filed a request three weeks ago. “Three weeks ago, I filed a request with the Foreign Ministry to renew my passport, which should normally take a few days. ElBaradei resigned from the post of vice president in Adly Mansour's government in 2013, to express his refusal of the forcible dispersal of the Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda sit-ins in which hundreds died.
