KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman today shot down claims by an opposition leader that Malaysia had come under the influence of China. “Increased economic and investment activities between Malaysia and China are the result of globalisation and the law of supply and demand. He said the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agencies would arrest any fishing vessels that conducted illegal fishing activities in Malaysian waters. “Chinese fishing vessels have been spotted only sporadically, and therefore it is completely untrue and utterly erroneous to suggest that Chinese fishing vessels cruise along our coasts. He said any foreign military vessels planning to make port call must submit their request to the government through diplomatic channel.
