An Invercargill used-car dealer has been taken to the Motor Vehicles Disputes Tribunal over a $48,000 Ford Ranger. However, Terrill did not give Invercargill Motors adequate opportunity to assess and repair the defects, rather taking it to a different Invercargill mechanic for repairs, the tribunal found. Invercargill Motors manager Darryl Millar told the tribunal he was the one who told Terrill her car had been involved in an accident, when he found out about it, six months after the sale. Despite legal advice of more than $4000, it appears Terrill’s lawyers have not advised her to take the simple step of asking Invercargill Motors to fix the car, McHerron says. McHerron was of the view Invercargill Motors ought to pay for the diagnostic and reporting work.
