UncategorizedThe Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has notified seven individuals to appear before the Commission regarding an alleged incident where the Uva Province Chief Minister forced a school principal to kneel before him. They have been notified to appear before the Commission at 10.00am tomorrow (25). Accordingly, notices have been sent to the Uva Province Education Secretary, Provincial Education Director, Zonal Education Director, OIC of the Badulla Police and three employees of the Uva Provincial Council. Uva Province Chief Minister Chamara Sampath Dassanayaka is alleged to have forced R. Bhavani, Principal of Badulla Tamil Maha Vidyalaya to kneel before him. The Chief Minister has also stepped down from his position as Provincial Education Minister.
