BigstockA class six student was raped and forced to get an abortion; two government health workers allegedly involvedA forced abortion has been performed on a class six student, allegedly by two health workers in Kushtia. The incident took place on Saturday at a private clinic in Khoksa upazila. Family Planning Officer Arena Khatun Bhorosha and Senior Staff Nurse Shefali Begum were present there and the surgery was performed in exchange of Tk2 lakh. When the girl fell severely ill after the abortion, she was taken to Kumarkhali Upazila Health Complex on Sunday and as her condition was deteriorating she was taken to Kushtia General Hospital. Arena Khatun Bhorosha and Shefali Begum admitted to the allegations in front of journalists but upon questioning by the Civil Surgeon Office, they denied the claims.
