The University of Maryland is one of America’s best large employers in the United States, according to 2024 rankings from Forbes magazine. Organizations with 1,000 to 5,000 employees were deemed midsize employers while the companies with more than 5,000 employees were considered large. All survey responses were tallied to produce a score for each company, and the 1,000 organizations with the highest scores landed on the full lists of America’s Best Midsize Employers 2024 and America’s Best Large Employers 2024. Forbes in 2023 also placed the University of Maryland on its list of America's Best-In-State Employers for the third consecutive year. Newsweek named UMD its 2024 list of America's Greatest Workplaces for Women and of America’s Greatest Employees for Diversity.
