By: Eldred Wlemongar ThomasWith just months left to the conduct of the 2017 presidential and legislative elections in Liberia, the country National Elections Commission has started putting in place measures to help address some electoral malpractices normally associated with such process. During past elections, there were many electoral malpractices with the trucking or migration of potential voters from one point to another reportedly topping the list of election fraud. As a result of this the National Elections Commission has signaled a strong warning to politicians against the trucking of voters from one district or county to another. Jerome Korkoyah, any of politician caught violating this restriction will the ban placed on trucking of voters during the voter registration and election processes risk a penalty of six months imprisonment. Speaking when he appeared before the Plenary of the House of Representatives, the Election Commission Chairman said the penalty is in line with Section 10.1 of the New Amended Elections Law of 2014.
