Yet Beth and Lee Southern paid a small fraction of that for a traditional white church wedding, thanks to an enterprising vicar and his army of volunteers. Reverend Mike Smith from St John’s Church in Hartford, Cheshire, launched his ‘Grand Wedding’ in January to halt the steep decline in church weddings.
