With summer almost upon us, it is important that the government thinks ahead of the potential energy crisis this inevitably leads to every year. As we know, summer heralds the onslaught of repeated load-shedding, especially in rural areas. This is the kind of innovative energy solution that our nation needs moving forward, solutions which harness the power of renewability. Also worth noting is that the initiative succeeds in fostering an ethos of green energy, which is essential in combating the effects of climate change — to which Bangladesh is particularly vulnerable. Renewable sources of energy are undoubtedly the future, and the government would do well to ensure that our collective national policy reflects such an outlook.
