Buckley Town FC said the unnamed footballer had been "dismissed" after it was made aware of the incident on Saturday. The original message was posted on Twitter along with the caption: "Lovely message to wake up to from [redacted] this morning x." "We would like to apologise to anyone who has been affected by this player's remarks, which we, like any right-minded person, find totally and utterly unacceptable." It added that an investigation had been launched and the message had been reported to the Football Association of Wales.
