Football fans will be able to watch Lionel Messi in action for Barcelona in La Liga for free on ITV4 (Getty Images)ITV have announced that they will be broadcasting La Liga matches for free on a weekly basis from now until the end of the season on ITV4. Alongside live matches, ITV will also broadcast a highlights show of all matches every week. Sky Sports had previously shown La Liga matches for over two decades but opted against extending their £18m per season deal this year. ‘This is a fantastic moment for La Liga in the UK and Ireland. Last season’s La Liga champions Barcelona are in pole position once again this time around, leading Atletico Madrid by seven points and Real Madrid by nine with 14 matches still to play.
