The founder of a group that provides young people from underprivileged areas across Bristol access to sports has been nominated for a BBC Unsung Hero Award. Hamsa, who was born and raised in St Paul’s, explains that, through football, the NextGen Circle programmes instill the values of respect, pride and growth in the members’ wider lives. He says “we want to be a lot more that a football club,” going on to outline ambitions to help the young community with education and career aspirations. Hamsa has big plans for the future of the community organisation, and is excited to see it grow and reach more young people in Bristol. The overall winner for the Unsung Hero Award 2023 of the 70th BBC Sports Personality of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, December 19 on BBC One.
