A night of wholesale team changes for the 11 Premier League clubs in action produced two notable upsets with Championship (second-tier) Leeds United beating Premier League Burnley 5-3 on penalties after a thrilling tie ended 2-2 after extra time. Mark Hughes's Stoke City were the other top-flight victims, going down 2-0 at second-tier Bristol City.
