Football legend Lionel Messi was given an outrageous welcome back to his first club Newell’s Old Boys in hometown Rosario on Saturday night, scoring a wonder free kick in a testimonial match shortly after. As the atmosphere built up, Messi made his way out of the locker room, descending a flight of stairs, while fireworks illuminated the surroundings. Messi waved to the fans, who passionately sang to welcome back the “Prodigal Son,” as described by SportsCenter. In another video, the entire stadium sang Happy Birthday to Messi, who celebrated his special day as a World Cup winner. With only six days remaining on his Paris Saint-Germain contract, Messi will soon be eligible to join Inter Miami on July 1.
