After years of criticism from inside and outside the club, Bayern Munich have ended their controversial sponsorship deal with Qatar Airways. It has always been the goal of FC Bayern and Qatar Airways to connect people through football, including women's football. Human rights researcher McGeehan calls this "a gross misrepresentation of what happened" and highlights clear warnings from Human Rights Watch and others at the time. Jan-Christian Dreesen, Bayern Munich chairman, said: "FC Bayern and Qatar Airways have worked together successfully and learned from each other. That future will not involve Bayern Munich but football itself certainly still seems to form a key part of the Qatari strategy.
