Supporting New Zealanders to have access to healthy and affordable food is one of Foodstuffs' social promises. HAPPINESS HOUSE / SUPPLIED Every Friday Happiness House a free produce table is on offer, with produce donated by local Foodstuffs stores and its food rescue partners. Happiness House manager Robyn Francis says support from Foodstuffs Covid-19 Emergency Support Fund, Foodstuffs (South Island) Community Trust and the local stores, has meant her team can keep supporting people who are struggling, and often don't qualify for support from other agencies. Says Trustee Janelle Shaw, "Whenever something happens Chris and Cushla are always there to support the community with whatever they need." This is an ongoing commitment as part of the co-operatives four social promises to: create meaningful work, provide sustainable leadership, deliver access to healthy affordable food and support local communities.
