While we talk about the scheme, a few people come in to pick up their veges, return last week's bags and pay for next week's orders. Another week they get 500g carrots, 400g bananas, a large broccoli and half a telegraph cucumber. The next week it's 600g carrots, 800g bananas, a large broccoli, a bunch of silver beet and an avocado. The following week it's 900g carrots, 600g tomatoes, 1.2kg bananas, a cauliflower, a large broccoli and a bunch of silver beet. That just means they break into thousands of little bits that make ersatz food for fish and birds.''
