HAWKERS at the Bayan Baru food court in Penang are observing stricter precautionary measures now ever since three Covid-19 cases surfaced in Teluk Kumbar. Mee goreng stall owner Zarinah Mohammad, 61, who has been operating at the food court for over 16 years, said all the hawkers there were cooperative. “The Rela members patrol the food court to ensure patrons are seated according to the rules to prevent crowding. Meanwhile, Thai food stall assistant Nurul Syifaa Abb Rahin, 21, said the number of the stall’s dine-in patrons had dropped by 50%. “Many more customers are ordering from food delivery partners, even those whose offices are just a stone’s throw away from the food court, ’’ she said.
