Two ferries had left Banglabazar at 8:30 am on Sunday but were forced to anchor in the middle of the river due to the fog, according to BIWTC Manager Prafulla Chauhan. As the visibility deteriorated, ferry services were suspended to avoid any mishaps on the fog-covered waterway, the official said. The services will resume once the fog lifts. As many as 14 ferries, including three ro-ro vessels, had been plying the route before the disruption, according to the BIWTC. The delay has left around 200 vehicles stranded on both sides of the route.
