Flynn has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI – ‘making false, fictitious, and fraudulent statements’ about his contacts with Russia. He admits that he discussed with another senior Trump transition official what he should say to the Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. At least two members of the Trump transition team were briefed by him after his contact with Kislyak. Those senior members responded, through the official, that they did not want an escalation, which Flynn passed back to Kislyak and then reported back to “senior members” of the transition team. In both cases outlined in the statement of offence, the Trump transition were asking for favours.
