SEPANG: Airlines offering additional flights at fixed fares during festive seasons are a big help in promoting family ties. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said AirAsia’s Chinese New Year extra late-night flights that were introduced this year was a success as seats – even those departing after midnight – were quickly sold out. “When the Chinese New Year extra late-night flights ended, I quickly asked the agencies, including the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom), to approve any additional flights for Gawai, Kaamatan and Raya,” Loke said. Loke commented during the launch of AirAsia’s extra late-night flights and fixed low fares for the upcoming Hari Gawai, Kaamatan Festival and Hari Raya Aidilfitri. One-way flights from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar, Kota Baru, Kuala Terengganu and Johor will be fixed at RM99.
