Florida State fires head football coach after less than two seasons in charge

(CNN) Florida State University fired head football coach Willie Taggart on Sunday, one day after the struggling Seminoles lost 27-10 to its in-state rival, the University of Miami. "I spoke to Coach Taggart this afternoon to let him know of our decision," said Florida State athletics director David Coburn. Taggart was hired in December 2017 to replace Jimbo Fisher, who left to become the head coach of Texas A&M University. Before that, he was the head coach at the University of South Florida from 2013-16. He was head coach there from 2010-2012 after serving as an assistant from 1999-2006.
