Mike Norvell will take over as coach of the Seminoles, Florida State announced on Sunday. “I’m humbled and honored for the opportunity to be the head coach at Florida State University, one of the iconic brands in college football,” Norvell said in a statement. Norvell was coaching Memphis on Saturday afternoon when Florida State sent out an advisory that it would introduce its new coach at a noon Sunday press conference. He told reporters after the AAC Championship Game that he planned to coach Memphis in its bowl game. “I am so pleased that Coach Norvell will be leading our football program,” said Florida State president John Thrasher.
