The Florida Keys officially welcomed back visitors ahead of schedule on Sunday, October 1. But travelers returning to the Keys should be cautious, as parts remain severely damaged and unable to welcome visitors. Recovery efforts are ongoing, especially in the Lower Keys and parts of Marathon that were hardest hit. Key West International Airport has reopened and commercial service and general aviation has resumed. Florida Keys Marathon International Airport is processing general aviation and charter flights as normal, and the Port of Key West is open to cruise ships.
