Flood situation shows the signs of improvement as water levels in almost all the rivers have started to recede. Asked about this, Sazzad Hossain said the flooding would not worsen despite the high possibility of rainfall. The met office recorded 108mm rainfall in Nakuagaon, 103mm rainfall in Durgapur, 100mm in Sunamganj, 87mm in Kurigram, 80mm in Rangpur and 78mm in Dalia. According to the DDM, some 106,321 victims have taken sanctuary at 355 shelters erected by the government. The government has allotted 26,451 tonnes of rice and Tk85,070,000 as gratuitous relief and 31,980 corrugated iron sheets to repair the damaged houses.
