National Emergency Co-ordination Group chairman Keith Leonard said councils and agencies will remain on high alert over the weekend, given the potential impact on parts of Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford and Kildare of the rain run-off from mountains. Torrential rainfall, high tides and a storm surge caused severe damage to parts of the transport network over the last few days. Localised road flooding was also reported in Wexford, Wicklow, Louth, Meath, Cavan, Monaghan and Waterford. One Wexford weather station, Johnstown Castle, has recorded its wettest three-month period for almost a century.
