KANGAR: The floods which struck Perlis and Kedah over the past week have done little to dampen the spirit of its schoolchildren. Despite many no longer having proper school uniforms or school books as they were damaged or washed away by floods, the pupils nevertheless turned up in droves for their classes this morning. Hakim, his elder sister and their mother heavily-pregnant mother are currently seeking shelter at the school, which has been doubling up as a flood relief centre since Thursday. "I was sad to see all my school uniforms and school backpack swept away by the flood but my mother told me that it was okay to just wear casual clothes to school. Muhamad Qayyim Muhamad Tajuddin, 11, said he and his family moved to the school which is being used as a flood relief centre on Saturday, when their home in Kampung Alor Senjaya was flooded.
