Flood hits Sirajganj, leaving thousands marooned

The water level is 12 cm above the danger zone from around 3am on Sunday, said AKM Rafikul Islam, sub-divisional engineer of BWDB Sirajganj area. The flood-hit upazilas are Sirajganj Sadar, Shahzadpur, Chowhali, Kazipur, and Belkuchi, reports our correspondent. As the Jamuna, Karatoya, and Boral rivers have been swelled, the low lying areas around the rivers have gone underwater and the water entered the houses in these areas, said Ashraful Islam, executive engineer of the Roads and Highways Department.
