According to the District Water Development Board, in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, the water level of Dhaleshwari River has risen by 11cm and flowing 44cm above danger level, the water level of Jamuna river increased by 20cm and flowing 3cm above the danger level, and the water level of Jhenai river has risen by 14cm flowing 5cm above danger level. On the other hand, 601 houses have been completely washed away in the river and 1,299 houses have been partially washed away. A school in Nagarpur has been washed away by the river and two religious institutions have been partially damaged. Of this, 2,730 hectares of sown aman, 95 hectares of planted aman (seedbed), 765 hectares of jute, 897 hectares of aus, 370 hectares of vegetables and 1,652 hectares of sesame have been submerged. Rezaul Karim, deputy assistant engineer of the science branch of the Tangail Water Development Board, told the correspondent that the river water is rising again due to the rainfall and the water is thus flowing above danger level.
