more-inWhile the country is focussing on utilizing non-conventional energy sources to tackle power crisis, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is gearing up to commission the largest floating solar project in the country on the Banasura Sagar Dam at Padinharethara in Wayanad district. The 54,450 sq ft plant, with 1,938 solar panels, each with a capacity of 260 Watts, has been installed on 18 unique and indigenously developed floating structures, Mr. Manoharan said. He said the 500 kWp (Kilowatt peak) plant was the largest floating solar project to come up in the country. Adtech Systems Ltd, a Thiruvananthapuram based private company, is the implementing agency of the project, Mr. Manoharan said adding that the company had offered two- year free maintenance works of the plant. A floating solar plant on the reservoir, the first such project in the country, and a dam top solar plant, with a capacity of 10 KW and 440 KW respectively, are successfully functioning on the reservoir, he said .
