Floating cocaine a ‘decoy’ – PDEA

Floating cocaine a ‘decoy’ – PDEABy DEMPSEY REYEShome/News/Regions/Floating cocaine a ‘decoy’ – PDEAPHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino on Monday said he believes that the spate of bricks of cocaine found floating on the shorelines of coastline villages is a “diversionary tactic” for drug groups to be able to slip into the country. In an interview over dzMM radio, Aquino said he was looking at two angles as to why bricks of cocaine were found floating along Dinagat Island and in Paracale, Camarines Norte. Another angle was, the cocaine found floating within Philippine waters could have been a “diversionary tactic” by drug groups for them to slip larger amounts of illegal drugs into the country. It is a decoy or as something to sacrifice and eventually to be able to slip larger volumes of drugs,” he added. Aquino said there had been 13 incidents of floating cocaine recorded since 2018, which made him suspect why the floating drugs were not completely retrieved.
