If a flash mob isn’t something you associate with the police, prepare to be pleasantly surprised. Inspired by flash mobs, the Government Railway Police (GRP) has formed a team of 75 officers, who will conduct security checks on local trains in a synchronised manner. They will board the train together at a specific station, frisk suspicious commuters, check bags and then alight at the next station – all this in a span of a few minutes. At least eight trains will be checked on the central and western lines every day between 11 am and 5 pm. Teams will consist of three police inspectors, the ACP, DCP, assistant police inspectors and constables.
