FOR years, residents of Kampung Mansiang in Menggatal, Sabah, would have to suffer flash floods whenever it rained heavily. Frequent flash floods occur due to the shallow depth of Sungai Mansiang. “On Aug 14, a huge flash flood affected more than 30 houses. ACTIONLINE:Kota Kinabalu Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) will execute a short-term measure to deepen Sungai Mansiang early next year. The short-term measure (to deepen the river) is one of our utmost priorities .”
