The Calgary Flames are heading to Vancouver Island to kick off the upcoming National Hockey League pre-season. Victoria’s Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre will be the site for a split-squad exhibition game against the Vancouver Canucks on Sept. 16. At the same time and day, the Flames will be hosting the Canucks at Scotiabank Saddledome. They’ll play another six more friendlies with stops in Edmonton (Sept. 20), Winnipeg (Sept. 22) and San Jose (Sept. 26). They’ll host San Jose on Sept. 18, Winnipeg on Sept. 24 and Edmonton on Sept. 28.
