Up against the Anaheim Ducks (24-28-9), who have seemed to frustrate the Flames like no other team for the better part of a decade, the Flames (38-16-7) had to grind. “We’re comfortable we can win in any type of game,” said Flames winger Matthew Tkachuk. But the Ducks weren’t interested in playing a wide-open, end-to-end style on Friday night at the Saddledome, and the Flames had to prove that they could go grind with a team that’s historically caused them fits. Chances were hard to come by, but the Flames stayed patient and waited for their chance to pounce. “It was a grind,” said Flames head coach Bill Peters.
