The National Art Gallery (NAG) in Kuala Lumpur has announced that it is temporarily closed until October 2021 for a major renovation and repairs project. This project, recommended by the Public Works Department, will include replacing the building’s roof and central air conditioning system. However, with low visitor turnout in these post-pandemic times, Amerrudin hopes this renovation project will give the NAG building a new lease of life when it reopens next year. He also adds that NAG programmes will still be organised despite the gallery's closure, focusing art residencies, rural art experiences and post-pandemic recovery initiatives. NAG's renovation project will not affect any exhibitions and programmes planned at National Art Gallery Langkawi in Kuah, Kedah.
