DHAKA, May 5, 2024 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) todayarrested five transport extortionists from Demra and south Keraniganj areasin the city. Al Amin, 22, said MJ Sohel, assistantsuperintendent of police (ASP) and assistant director (Media) of RAB-10. Acting on a tip-off, a team of the RAB-10 conducted separate drives in Demraand south Keraniganj areas in the capital and nabbed them around 11.30 am, headded. ASP Sohel further said that the extortionists were illegally collecting moneyfrom various transports including inter-district trucks, covered-vans,lorries and CNG-run auto-rickshaws. The RAB also recovered extortion money worth Taka 7,200 and four woodensticks from their possession, he said, adding: "Necessary legal action hasbeen taken against them and they have been handed over to respective policestations."
